The Workshops on Lidar Measurements in Latin America have been
the appropriated frame for conducting exchanges related to the
lidar technique and applications among specialists from Latin America
and other parts of the World. From the first workshop young students
and researchers have participated actively. For fulfilling the
goal of contributing to the formation and development of those
youth, courses on the subject have been conducted in several of
the workshops.
Ay the IV Workshop, held in Ilhabela, Brazil, the suggestion came
out to make available to students and young researchers both technical
information about lidar and links to specialized bibliography in
the subject. It was suggested also to publicize in the workshops
website’s learning opportunities and fellowships for the
Latino American student’s community interested in the lidar
subject.
Attendance and participation of students and young researchers
in every one of the Workshops on Lidar Measurements in Latin America
have increased. It is demonstrated by the increase of the amount
of presentations and posters by students. In the III and IV workshops
best student/young researcher oral presentation and poster were
awarded, recognizing the work they have conducted. In the III workshop,
held in Popayán, Colombia, the best poster, by Elena Montilla
from Colombia and the best oral presentation, by Boris Barja from
Cuba shared a unique award. In the IV workshop, held Ilhabela,
Brazil, two separated awards were selected. The best poster award
was shared by Eliane Gonçalves y Fábio da Silva,
from Brazil and the young researcher Elian Wolfrang, from Argentina
received the award by the best oral presentation.
The goal of this webpage is to fulfill the suggestions cited
before in the best interest of the Lidar community in Latin
America. It will provide information about the lidar technique
and its applications. It will also be open to the cooperation
from all those having information on the subject and willing
to share it. Also it will provide information for students
and young researchers learning opportunities in Latin America
and the world. Your contributions are welcome.
